When used with the Sharp Shooter Camera Stock it turns the entire system into a rigid "rifle" type system and allows for the maximum flexibility in positioning/support. 8"-10" MonoRail is recommended for smaller/lighter lenses (100-400mm, 200-500mm, etc). 10-14" MonoRail is recommended for use with the big prime lenses (400/2.8, 500/4, etc).
